Great Belt Fixed Link

The bridge-tunnel system extends across 18 kilometers of the Great Belt strait, incorporating two bridges and one railway tunnel beneath the water.

The construction began in 1988 after 50 years of planning and replaced a ferry service that had operated between the Danish islands since the 1800s.

The fixed connection has transformed the movement of people between Zealand and Funen, enabling regular exchanges between both island communities.

The crossing requires a toll payment of 245 Danish kroner for cars and reduces travel time between the islands to 15 minutes.

The East Bridge features two 254-meter-high pylons that stand as the highest points in the entire Danish territory.
