Cathrinesminde Brickworks, Technology museum in Broager Peninsula, Denmark.

Cathrinesminde Brickworks is a production facility on the Broager Peninsula in Denmark with preserved machinery, steam engines, and a 16-chamber Hoffmann kiln built in the 1880s. The site displays the complete equipment needed to transform clay into finished bricks.

A farmer established this works in 1732 and initially supplied bricks to rebuild Copenhagen after a major fire. The site became one of the region's leading production centers over subsequent centuries.

The workshop demonstrates how brick-making brought workers together as a key trade for centuries. This site shows the skills of laborers who produced materials used across the region to construct homes and public buildings.

The site in Broager is easily accessible on foot and offers guided tours and workshops about historical production methods. Visitors can examine the machinery and kilns up close and learn about the craftsmanship involved.

This production site operated for nearly 240 years and reached two million bricks annually at its peak. It demonstrates how long traditional craft operations could remain competitive with modern technology.
