Cathrinesminde Brickworks

The manufacturing complex features a complete brick production facility with preserved machinery, steam engines, and a 16-chamber Hoffmann kiln from the 1880s.

Founded by a local farmer in 1732, the brickworks initially supplied materials for rebuilding Copenhagen after the devastating fire of 1728.

The museum preserves Denmark's industrial heritage through exhibitions displaying traditional brick manufacturing techniques and equipment from different production periods.

Located at Illerstrandvej 76 in Broager, the museum offers guided tours and educational workshops about brick production methods throughout the centuries.

The facility maintained continuous brick production for 236 years until 1968, reaching an annual output of two million bricks during its peak operations.
