Cloos Tower

Cloos Tower is a 60-meter-tall structure with an observation platform offering views across Frederikshavn and the Vendsyssel region around it. The building functions both as a television transmission tower and as a viewing platform for visitors.

The tower came from merchant Christian Cloos's 1941 bequest, which provided funds and required its construction by 1962. This project fulfilled a personal legacy that shaped the local landscape.

The tower takes its name from the parents of merchant Christian Cloos, commemorating their ties to the city and the family's role in local commerce. Walking up, you get a sense of how this personal memorial has become a shared landmark that locals and visitors use to understand their place.

You can reach the observation deck by elevator or by climbing 315 stairs, depending on your preference and fitness level. Either way, the access is straightforward and manageable for most visitors.

On clear days, you can see Skagen to the north, Læsø island to the east, and Rubjerg Knude to the west from the top, offering broad views of the region. These distant landmarks are visible to the naked eye and give you a sense of how the area stretches out.
