Pikkerbakken, Hilltop observation point in Bangsbo, Frederikshavn, Denmark
The viewpoint platform at Pikkerbakken rises 71 meters above sea level, providing panoramic views over Frederikshavn, the harbor, and the distant islands of Hirsholmene.
During World War II, German forces established a military complex at Pikkerbakken, constructing 70 concrete bunkers and an anti-aircraft battery to monitor maritime activities.
The commemorative stone at Pikkerbakken bears signatures from three Danish royals: King Frederik VIII, King Frederik IX, and Crown Prince Frederik.
Visitors can access Pikkerbakken by car through Understedvej or take a 4-kilometer hiking trail from Restaurant Møllehuset through Bangsbo Dyrehave.
The observation platform is designed in the shape of Skagens Gren, marking the northernmost point of Denmark and offering views extending to Læsø on clear days.
