Billund Airport, International airport in Billund Municipality, Denmark.
Billund Airport is an international facility in Billund Municipality that links Western Denmark with European destinations through regular scheduled services. Passenger handling takes place in two terminal buildings with check-in counters, security checkpoints, and boarding areas.
Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, son of the Lego founder, built a private airstrip and hangar north of his factory in 1964. The facility later expanded into a commercial hub serving scheduled passenger routes across Europe.
The departure halls display Danish furniture traditions, with seating designed by Børge Mogensen visible in the King Amlet Lounge. These design choices reflect the Nordic preference for practical forms and natural materials in public spaces.
Bus services link both terminals directly with Danish cities including Horsens, Aarhus, and Skanderborg, departing throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased from the driver or in advance through mobile applications.
The connection with the Lego Group resulted in a limited edition Lego Architecture set released in 2014, replicating the terminal buildings in miniature. This set joined the architecture series that recreates real structures in block form.
