The Funen Village

The Funen Village encompasses 25 relocated historical buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, including farmhouses, a parsonage, a watermill, and a windmill.

The museum began as a public works project in 1942 during German occupation and officially opened in 1946 with King Christian X attending the ceremony.

The village maintains Danish livestock breeds, including Frederiksborg horses, Danish Landrace goats, sheep, pigs, and geese, representing agricultural traditions.

The museum operates throughout the year with seasonal hours, offering free admission to visitors under 18 and hosting regular demonstrations of traditional crafts.

Gardens across the museum grounds feature heritage fruit trees specific to Funen, while fields demonstrate historical farming methods and sustainable agricultural practices.
