Bryggebroen

The Bryggebroen bridge extends 190 meters across Copenhagen's inner harbor, connecting the neighborhoods of Kalvebod Brygge and Islands Brygge for pedestrians and cyclists.

Constructed in 2006, the Bryggebroen marked the first bridge built over Copenhagen harbor in 50 years, establishing a direct link between Vesterbro and Amager.

The bridge received its name through a public contest in the Politiken newspaper, where residents submitted over 200 suggestions referencing the connection between harbor quays.

The steel structure features a width of 5.5 meters and maintains a clear height of 5.45 meters underneath, allowing boats to pass through the harbor.

Local couples attach padlocks along the bridge's railings as symbols of their relationships, creating an evolving display of personal connections.
