Cobra, Steel roller coaster in Tivoli Friheden, Denmark.
Cobra was a steel roller coaster at Tivoli Friheden amusement park in Aarhus, Denmark, featuring multiple overhead inversions and tight turns. The track ran through different sections of the park and was one of the more elaborate rides on the grounds.
The ride opened in 2008 and remained one of the park's most visited attractions for over a decade. An incident in 2022 led to its permanent closure.
The name Cobra referred to the snake-like path the track made as it twisted and looped through the park. Rides with multiple inversions were rare in Danish amusement parks at the time, which made this one stand out among visitors.
Tivoli Friheden is located in the southern part of Aarhus and is easy to reach by public transit. Since Cobra is permanently closed, checking the park's current list of open attractions before visiting is a good idea.
Cobra was designed by Ride Tek Engineering, a company responsible for very few roller coasters worldwide, making this model a rare one among enthusiasts. One of the track elements was an Immelmann loop, a shape that takes its name from a flight maneuver used in World War 1.
