Arboretet, Research arboretum in Hørsholm Municipality, Denmark
Arboretet is a tree and shrub collection spread across a large area in Hørsholm containing thousands of plant species from different regions worldwide. The plants are arranged along pathways that wind through the grounds, making it possible to see many different species during a single visit.
The site was established in 1936 by the University of Copenhagen as an expansion of an existing botanical garden location. Over time it developed into an important place for forestry education and scientific research related to plant species.
The place serves as a living classroom where researchers and students observe and study plant behavior across seasons. Visitors can sense how this space functions as a working environment dedicated to understanding trees and shrubs from around the world.
The grounds are accessible daily from morning until sunset and can be entered from several gates positioned around the perimeter. Comfortable footwear is recommended since exploring the site involves walking along multiple pathways at your own pace.
In May the grounds display a spectacular flowering show from an extensive rhododendron collection that transforms the appearance of the entire site. In autumn the foliage shifts to warm tones, creating a completely different experience when walking the same pathways.
