Domus Medica

Domus Medica is a Neo-Baroque building positioned at Kristianiagade with a three-winged layout spreading across three main levels. Black-glazed tiles cover the distinctive Mansard roof, creating the formal appearance of this medical association headquarters.

Built between 1902 and 1906, it served initially as the private home of diplomat Joseph von Plessen and represented the final grand aristocratic townhouse created in Copenhagen. The medical association later claimed the property following wartime damage and converted it into its organizational headquarters.

The building became home to Denmark's medical profession, with multiple health organizations working side by side under its roof. Physicians and administrators used these spaces to shape healthcare policies that affected the entire nation.

The building sits close to Østerport station, making it easily accessible by public transit in central Copenhagen. Note that this is a private organizational building not typically open for casual visits or tours.

During its early decades, ground floor rooms were leased to representatives of foreign diplomatic missions who set up offices there. This arrangement reveals how it once served as a practical gathering point for Copenhagen's diplomatic community.
