Engelsholm Højskole

Engelsholm Højskole is an arts and music folk school in Vejle housed within a baroque castle on an island surrounded by lake and forest. The facility contains workshops, studios, and practice rooms equipped with tools, machines, and musical instruments for student work.

The school was established in 1940 based on educational principles developed by Nicolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig, a significant Danish reformer. The castle building itself dates to 1593 and was adapted into an educational facility over time.

Courses in visual arts, photography, electronic music, ceramics, and songwriting bring together students who share daily communal responsibilities and creative work. This living community shapes how artistic learning happens through shared experiences rather than just individual study.

The school provides 24-hour access to fully equipped workshops containing tools, machines, and musical instruments for students to use in their work. Since the castle sits on an island, transportation and access timing should be considered when planning a visit.
