Engelsholm Castle, Manor house in Vejle Municipality, Denmark.
Engelsholm is a baroque castle with four corner towers topped by onion domes, white-washed walls, and a black-glazed tile roof. The building stands by Engelsholm Lake with restored structures housing educational and residential spaces.
The castle was built in 1592 by Knud Brahe, brother of the astronomer Tycho Brahe. A baroque transformation around 1740 under Gerhard de Lichtenberg shaped its current appearance.
The castle operates as a folk high school offering music and visual arts courses that draw students from different backgrounds. Visitors can sense the artistic work and learning activity that happens within its spaces daily.
The castle is located about 14 kilometers west of Vejle and is accessible by road. Keep in mind that the estate functions primarily as an educational institution with student housing, so visits should be planned accordingly.
Admiral Niels Juel owned the estate from 1784 to 1786, connecting it to Danish naval history. This connection to one of Denmark's greatest naval figures adds historical depth beyond its architectural story.
