Kokkedal castle, manor house in northeast Zealand, Denmark
Kokkedal castle is a manor house operating as a hotel north of Copenhagen, offering 62 rooms and suites in classic style. The building features two stories with elegant details, bright rooms for events and gatherings, and a terrace with outdoor seating.
The original estate was a royal tenant farm that was given to a German count in the 1700s, who built a small vacation home there. In the 1800s, a Danish businessman purchased the property and constructed a larger two-story mansion with outbuildings.
The name Kokkedal comes from its past role as an estate for wealthy families and Danish nobility. Visitors can see how the gardens and main house reflect the leisurely lifestyle of those who once lived here during the summer months.
The estate lies north of Copenhagen with free parking for guests and is easily accessible by car or train. Its peaceful location serves as a good base for day trips to the coast or city, as well as to the nearby golf course.
The estate was briefly owned by the municipality in the latter half of the 1900s, with plans to convert it into a public venue that never materialized. After falling into disrepair, it was later restored as a luxury hotel and became part of an international hotel collection.
