The lake has maintained its ecological composition throughout centuries, serving as a vital water resource for local communities in the Rebild Municipality.

Local Danish communities integrate the lake into their outdoor lifestyle through activities like swimming, fishing for pike, and walking along forest paths.

Visitors can access the lake through a 200-meter path from the parking area, with specially designed routes suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The lake contains a high population of small perches and maintains excellent water quality despite its distinctive brown coloration.
