Bohrs Tårn, Residential tower in Carlsberg Byen, Denmark.
Bohrs Tarn is a 100-meter-tall residential tower in Carlsberg Byen containing 88 units spread across 22 floors. Corner living rooms have large windows, and the building tapers inward toward its center to reduce heat loss.
The building was completed in 2017 and marks the gateway entrance to Carlsberg Byen. It was the first of nine planned residential towers in this newly developed district.
The building takes its name from Danish physicist Niels Bohr and mixes student housing with learning spaces in its lower levels. Daily use by residents and students creates a blend of home and educational hub within the same structure.
The building accommodates about 10,000 students from the University College in its lower levels. When visiting, keep in mind this is an active residential area, so respect for the inhabitants is important.
The exterior features rippled brown aluminum panels that shift in appearance depending on the angle and time of day. This undulating surface creates an ever-changing pattern of light and shadow across the facade.
