Bohrs Tårn, Residential tower in Carlsberg Byen, Denmark.
Bohrs Tårn is a residential tower in the Carlsberg Byen district of Copenhagen, rising 22 floors and housing 88 apartments. The building tapers inward toward its center to reduce heat loss, and the facade is covered in rippled brown aluminum panels.
The tower was completed in 2017 and stands at the entrance to the Carlsberg Byen district, which was built on the former Carlsberg brewery grounds. It was the first of nine residential towers planned for this redeveloped area.
The building takes its name from Danish physicist Niels Bohr and mixes student housing with learning spaces in its lower levels. Daily use by residents and students creates a blend of home and educational hub within the same structure.
The tower sits at the entrance to Carlsberg Byen, a neighborhood that is still being developed, so the surroundings may vary depending on how far construction has progressed. Since this is an active residential building, visitors passing by should be mindful of residents going about their day.
The rippled aluminum panels on the facade shift in appearance depending on the angle from which you look at them and the light at different times of day. Corner apartments in the building have unusually large windows that frame wide views over the neighborhood.
