Portland Towers, Office building in Nordhavn district, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Portland Towers is an office building with two converted silos in Copenhagen's harbor district, with modern office floors positioned about 24 meters above ground. The structure uses the original cylindrical forms as central cores for elevators and stairs, while office space wraps around them.
The building emerged from two concrete silos for cement storage that were built in 1979 and served the harbor for decades. Between 2013 and 2014, these structures were completely transformed into modern office spaces.
The German Embassy in Copenhagen selected Portland Towers as their location in 2018, establishing the building as a center for international relations.
The building is located in Nordhavn, Copenhagen's modern harbor quarter, which is easy to reach by public transportation. The surroundings offer many cafes and restaurants, making it simple to plan a break.
The two silos are not identical but differ in their diameters, which becomes obvious when entering the building. This asymmetrical arrangement gives the structure an unusual, almost organic silhouette.
