Khenchela Province

Khenchela Province encompasses 9,715 square kilometers of land in the Aures region, featuring mountains and agricultural territories at 1,236 meters elevation point.

The province gained its administrative status in 1984 when authorities redistributed territories from Oum el Bouaghi Province and Tébessa Province to create this new region.

The population maintains strong Berber Chaoui traditions through local markets, regional festivals, agricultural practices, and traditional craft manufacturing methods.

Eight administrative districts manage twenty-one municipalities across the province, with the capital city of Khenchela serving as the central governmental hub.

The province contains numerous archaeological sites dating from different civilizations, scattered throughout its mountainous landscape and rural settlements.
