Diana Veteranorum, Roman archaeological site in Zana El Beida, Algeria.
Diana Veteranorum is a Roman archaeological site near Zana El Beida where excavations have uncovered the remains of oil presses, farms, storage tanks, and wells. A rectangular forum paved with stone flagstones forms the center of these unearthed ruins.
The settlement was founded in the 2nd century to house veterans of the Third Augustan Legion under Emperor Trajan. It later developed into a center with Byzantine influence and religious importance.
The settlement shows how local and Roman traditions mixed, with buildings later repurposed for Christian worship. Visitors can see in the remains how people wove faith and commerce together in their daily life.
The site sits roughly 90 kilometers southwest of Constantine and is best reached by arranging with local tour services from there. Plan for the drive and bring water and sun protection, as the area is dry and open.
Two forts from different periods stand at this location, with the smaller one attached near a Caracalla arch. The larger fort sits roughly 100 meters east of the forum and shows how military control shifted over time.
