Sõrve Lighthouse, Maritime navigational tower in Torgu Rural Municipality, Estonia
Sõrve Lighthouse is a 52-meter-tall concrete tower standing on Estonia's coast with dark exterior walls and a white lower section. The structure reaches high above the Baltic shoreline and can be seen from considerable distances along the water.
A lighthouse first appeared on this site in 1646 to guide ships along the coast. The current building dates from 1960 and replaced earlier versions that had been damaged or rebuilt multiple times.
The lighthouse connects the area's maritime past with present-day Estonia and serves as a gathering point for people interested in coastal heritage. Visitors come here to understand how sea routes shaped this part of the Baltic region.
The lighthouse is accessible during warmer months when conditions are better for visiting. Reaching the top involves climbing an internal staircase, which can be tiring for those with mobility concerns.
The tower is the tallest of its kind in the entire Baltic Sea region, giving it exceptional views. On clear days, visitors can look far across the water toward neighboring countries.
