Tarvastu Castle

Tarvastu Castle consists of stone walls and foundations near the Tarvastu River, showing how medieval fortifications were constructed and defended. The ruins reveal the layout of what was once a substantial stone structure built to control the surrounding land.

The castle was built in the 14th century by the Livonian Order as a military stronghold controlling trade routes in the region. It eventually lost its strategic importance and gradually fell into ruin over the following centuries.
