Vabaduse sild, Modern bridge in Tartu, Estonia
Located over the Emajõgi River, Vabaduse sild connects the city center with the Ülejõe district through its metal and glass construction.
The bridge was constructed in 2005, replacing previous crossings that served as essential connections for Tartu residents since the mid-20th century.
The structure reflects Estonia's contemporary architectural approach, featuring thirty plexiglass cupolas that serve as seating areas along the pedestrian walkway.
The bridge includes a central support structure containing a teahouse accessed by a spiral staircase from the main walkway level.
During evening hours, the bridge illuminates from within, creating reflections on the river surface while the teahouse offers views just one meter above water.
