Vabaduse sild

Vabaduse sild is a pedestrian bridge spanning the Emajõgi River in Tartu, connecting the city center with the Ülejõe district. Its metal and glass structure includes a central pavilion housing a teahouse accessible via a spiral staircase from the main walkway.

The bridge was built in 2005, replacing earlier crossings that had served as essential connections for decades. This construction represents a shift toward modern infrastructure in Tartu's urban development.

The bridge reflects Estonia's approach to contemporary design, with glass cupolas positioned along the walkway creating informal gathering spaces. Visitors notice how people naturally stop in these areas to rest and take in their surroundings.
