Temple of Isis in Philae, Ancient temple in Egypt
The Temple of Isis is part of the Philae temple complex, revered as one of the last outposts where the ancient Egyptian religion persisted.
Construction of the complex began during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus and continued over a period of nearly 800 years.
Isis cult worship was pivotal to the culture, playing a significant role in festivals and rituals held at Philae.
The temples were dismantled and relocated to nearby Agilkia Island as a part of UNESCO's Nubian Monuments campaign to save them from flooding.
Philae is renowned for the sound and light show illuminating the temples at night, enhancing their mystique.
