Brothers Islands Lighthouse

The Brothers Islands Lighthouse is a cylindrical stone tower topped with a balcony and lantern room situated on a remote island in the Red Sea. The structure rises approximately 31 meters above sea level and guides ships navigating through this busy maritime corridor.

British administrators built this lighthouse in 1883 to guide ships through the strategically important Red Sea. After decades of operation, the facility underwent major renovation and modernization in 1993.

The Egyptian Navy maintains this maritime structure as part of their national network of navigational beacons along the Red Sea coastline.

This location sits on an uninhabited island and is accessible only by boat, making visits demanding. The isolated setting and limited access require careful planning and proper preparation.

The facility retains its original Chance Brothers Fresnel lens operated by hand crank since the 19th century. This mechanical system remains one of the few still functioning original mechanisms of its kind worldwide.
