Helwan wax museum

The Helwan Wax Museum displays more than 100 wax sculptures and elaborate panoramic scenes depicting Egyptian historical figures and cultural moments. The exhibition consists of life-sized figures and detailed scene reconstructions that portray significant moments from Egypt's past.

The museum was founded in 1934 and relocated several times before settling in the Helwan district, receiving official recognition from the Ministry of Culture in 1997. Over the decades, it developed into an established cultural institution within Egypt's museum landscape.

The collection features wax figures of notable personalities such as Saladin and Cleopatra, representing different periods of Egyptian history. Visitors can observe how these historical figures are portrayed through detailed sculptural craftsmanship.

The museum is located near Ain Helwan Metro station in the southern Cairo district and is easily accessible by public transport. The location makes it convenient to include in a visit to the southern parts of the city.

The exhibition features intricately designed scenes such as Queen Cleopatra's final moments and Mohammed Ali Pasha inspecting the Suez Canal opening. These scene reconstructions give visitors a vivid sense of dramatic moments that shaped Egyptian history.
