Arévalo, Administrative center in Castile and León, Spain.
Arévalo is a town in Ávila province, set at 820 meters where two rivers converge. The old quarter retains a castle, churches and squares built from brick and timber, preserving the medieval layout.
Queen Isabella I spent her youth in the castle during the 15th century. The fortress was later converted into a granary and now serves as a grain storage museum.
The town contains multiple churches showcasing Mudéjar architecture, including Santo Domingo de Silos with its Gothic naves and distinct architectural elements.
The A-6 highway connects the town to Madrid and La Coruña, while regional trains run to Ávila and Valladolid. The center is best explored on foot, and most churches open outside service hours.
The church of La Lugareja stands two kilometers outside and displays three apses with brick arches that show Mudéjar craftsmanship at its purest. Its isolated location heightens the spare, monumental impression of the facade.
