The cathedral rises 84 meters high with three naves, featuring marble columns, intricate sculptures, and a central tower that dominates the city skyline.
Construction began in 1528 on the site of a former mosque under architect Diego Siloe, marking the transformation of Málaga after the Christian reconquest.
The choir section displays exceptional Baroque woodwork and relief figures by sculptor Pedro de Mena, representing religious and historical characters.
The cathedral opens its rooftop to visitors, offering views of the Alcazaba fortress, Gibralfaro Castle, and the Mediterranean Sea from various viewpoints.
The northern tower earned the nickname La Manquita because funds ran out before the second tower could be completed in the 18th century.
