Villalbilla, municipality of Spain
Villalbilla is a small municipality in the Community of Madrid, located on gently rolling terrain east of the capital, close to Alcalá de Henares. The town is made up of brick houses with small gardens and narrow streets that connect the residential areas to the central plaza.
The area around Villalbilla has been settled since ancient times, with traces of Roman and Visigoth presence found in the surrounding land. After the Christian Reconquista, the settlement was repopulated and gradually took shape as a farming community.
The name Villalbilla comes from Spanish words meaning roughly "small village with white houses". The local plaza is still the center of community life, especially during saint's day festivals when residents gather for music and shared meals.
Villalbilla is easy to reach from Madrid by road or bus, with regular connections linking the town directly to the capital. Once there, the town center is compact enough to explore on foot without needing extra transport.
Some of the farms surrounding Villalbilla are still working and open to visitors who want to buy fresh produce directly from the fields. This connection to active farming is relatively uncommon for a town so close to a major capital.
