Old Orphanage of Vitoria, Church building in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain

The Old Orphanage features three sections with Tuscan and Ionic columns along its facade, topped by a sculptural relief depicting Charity.

Founded in 1778 by royal decree of Charles III, the orphanage took residence in the former San Prudencio College building from 1653.

The institution educated orphaned children in various trades to ensure their future independence and integration into the local workforce.

Located on San Vicente de Paul Street, the building includes a rectangular chapel with three sections covered by a vault with lunettes.

The chapel contains the tomb of Bishop Martin de Salvatierra, presented in a praying position before an altar and crucifix.
