Pope John Paul II granted the minor basilica status to this temple in 1992, making it the second church in Seville to receive this distinction.
The basilica houses the venerated image of Jesus del Gran Poder, a masterful sculpture created by Juan de Mesa in 1620.
The basilica opens Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 13:00 and 17:30 to 21:00, with extended hours on Fridays and modified schedules on weekends.
The circular interior layout, without supporting elements, draws inspiration from Rome's Pantheon and incorporates a central lantern that illuminates the space.
