The Plaza de las Angustias features a central fountain surrounded by carefully maintained gardens with trees providing natural shade throughout the space.
Originally established in 1578 with a devotional cross, the plaza evolved into a recreational space before housing the city's first bullring in 1839.
The plaza includes a monument dedicated to aviator Juan Manuel Duran Gonzalez, who participated in the first transatlantic seaplane crossing in 1926.

The Chapel of Las Angustias, constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries, stands next to the plaza, connecting to its origins as a devotional cross site.
