Castillo de Montizón, Medieval castle in Villamanrique, Spain
The fortress features four sections including defensive walls, enclosures, and a prominent tower rising above the Guadalén River's right bank.
Built in the 13th century under Don Pelayo Correa of the Order of Santiago, the castle controlled passage between Jaén and Montiel regions.
Jorge Manrique, commander of the Order of Santiago, resided in the castle during the 15th century while creating his literary works.
Visitors must arrange access through Villamanrique Town Hall, with regular opening hours except during the month of September.
The castle's Torre del Homenaje measures 28 meters on its longest side and stands upon solid rock formations near the river.
