Puig de Galatzó

Puig de Galatzó is a limestone peak in western Mallorca that rises to about 1000 meters elevation. Its northern face shows steep gullies and exposed ridges, while the southern slopes descend more gradually.

During the Middle Ages, outlaws used the complex mountain landscape as a hideout to escape pursuit. The harsh terrain made this location a remote refuge for those fleeing authority.

The mountain forms a natural boundary between three nearby villages and holds meaning in their local identity. Residents and visitors use the slopes for walking and outdoor activities that connect them to the land.

The climb starts from Puigpunyent at Font des Pi, following a marked trail through varied terrain. Bring sturdy shoes and plenty of water, as the round trip takes about six hours.

The mountain displays distinctive karst formations featuring towers, vertical walls, and canyons throughout its slopes. These geological features create habitats for rare species like the Balearic mountain goat and red-legged partridge.
