Palacio de Villena

Palacio de Villena, Renaissance palace in Cadalso de los Vidrios, Spain.

The Palacio de Villena is a Renaissance building with classical elements such as stone arches, Ionic columns, and symmetrical facades on the north and south sides. The structure preserves the typical proportions of that era and shows crafted details that were characteristic of the place where powerful families lived.

Álvaro de Luna, Duke of Trujillo, ordered construction of the palace in the early 1400s when Castile faced internal unrest and power struggles. Its creation reflects how leading noble families reinforced their position despite political turmoil around them.

The palace was recognized as a site of cultural importance and shows how the local wealthy families displayed their power through architectural design. You can still see how the rooms and facades reflect this display of status when you walk through them.

The entrance is located at Carretera de Cenicientos 1-B and can be reached from Madrid by taking the N-V highway. The drive from the capital takes roughly two hours by car, giving you time to explore the surrounding area near this landmark.

In the adjoining municipal park stands a stone pond with gazebos and viewpoints, whose central temple was restored during the 1980s. This calm addition to the palace building offers a place to walk and pause.
