Palau de Mar

The Palau de Mar features two rectangular structures with brick facades separated by a central corridor leading to Plaza Pau Vila and the port dock.

Built between 1880 and 1890 as general storage warehouses for the port of Barcelona, the building opened officially on July 1, 1902.

The Museum of History of Catalonia, established in 1996, presents exhibitions spanning from prehistory through contemporary times across multiple floors of the building.

The fourth floor houses a library, media center, event space, and a café with terrace offering views over Port Vell and the Mediterranean Sea.

The structure stands as the last remaining building from Barcelona's former industrial port, incorporating original cast iron columns and nineteenth-century brickwork.
