Sala Beckett, Theatre center in Poblenou, Barcelona, Spain.
Sala Beckett is a theater center in the Poblenou neighborhood featuring two performance halls, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, offices, and a bar-restaurant. The main auditorium seats about 200 spectators, while the secondary venue accommodates roughly 120 people, allowing simultaneous productions.
The building originally housed the Cooperativa Paz y Justicia before architects Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats redesigned it between 2014 and 2017. This renovation transformed the space into the current theater complex while preserving its original structure.
The space is named after writer Samuel Beckett and serves as a gathering point where contemporary plays come to life and artists connect with audiences. Visitors can experience performances, join workshops, and witness exchanges between local and international theater practitioners.
The two halls allow separate productions to run at the same time, giving visitors flexibility in choosing what to see. The onsite bar-restaurant and accessible location make it convenient to spend an afternoon or evening here.
The interior preserves decorative details from its past, including colorful hydraulic floor mosaics and wooden doors with stained glass panels. These remnants create an unexpected blend of old architectural character with contemporary theater operations.
