Parc de l'Estació del Nord, Urban park in Fort Pienc neighborhood, Barcelona, Spain.
Parc de l'Estació del Nord is an urban green space built on a former railway site in Barcelona, featuring grassy slopes and wooden pathways. The park preserves the southern facade of the historic station and incorporates it into the overall design.
The site was created in 1987 on the grounds of former railway tracks and preserves elements of the Estació del Nord dating from 1861. This transformation shows how an old industrial area was converted into public green space.
The park features artworks by Beverly Pepper, including a blue ceramic pyramid and a spiral-shaped mosaic pathway. These installations shape how visitors experience and move through the space.
The park is easily accessible on foot and features open, well-marked areas for various activities. Visitors will find basketball and ping-pong facilities, as well as plenty of space for walking and relaxing.
Several old tree species within the park, including stone pines and poplars, are registered in Barcelona's catalogue of notable trees. These plants are relics from earlier times and are specifically protected and documented.
