Pinar de Antequera, Pine forest park in Valladolid, Spain
The Pinar de Antequera is a large wooded park south of Valladolid with stone pine forests and a network of maintained paths for various activities. The site also provides service facilities including bus stops, restaurants, sports fields, and skating rinks.
The site is crossed by the Cañada Real Merinera, an ancient route used by Merino sheep herders during seasonal movements toward Valdestillas. This path connects the park to medieval trade routes of the region.
The park serves as a gathering place where neighbors meet for jogging, walking, or sports on weekends. Community events organized by local associations bring residents together throughout the year.
The site is easy to explore on foot with well-marked and maintained paths throughout. Bus stops provide convenient access, and on-site restaurants offer refreshments for visitors.
A fire in 1969 thinned the dense pine stands, allowing more varied vegetation to flourish. In the Carrascal section between the railway and southern boundary, holm oaks now thrive alongside the original pines.
