The Church of Santa María la Mayor displays three naves within a rectangular floor plan, measuring 20 meters wide by 30 meters long.
Construction of the current church began in the late 15th century, with Pedro de Ibarra continuing the project in 1553 to complete the western facade.
The main altarpiece, created by Bartolomé de Jerez in the 18th century, remains unpainted and features a monumental wooden structure.
The church contains several funeral chapels built by nobles between the 16th and 18th centuries, including the notable Flores family chapel.
Two capitals from the Visigothic period remain inside the church, suggesting the existence of an earlier basilica at this location.
