The Baroque temple features a rectangular floor plan with a high choir entrance and an elaborate altarpiece from the early 18th century.
The sanctuary's origins trace back to the 9th century when monks maintained a small hermitage and several monasteries in the surrounding area.
Two annual pilgrimages transfer the Virgin's image between Almansa and the sanctuary, with members of the Shepherds' Society carrying the statue on their shoulders.
Located 14 kilometers from Almansa's urban center, the sanctuary welcomes visitors who participate in traditional local festivities and religious ceremonies.
The sanctuary bell, named María Magdalena, displays an inscription from 1790 that records important historical events of the building.
