Viaducto de San Martín

The Viaduct of San Martin is a concrete arch bridge that connects two neighborhoods of Ortigosa de Cameros across the Albercos River. The structure stretches 97 meters in length, with its central arch rising 40 meters above the water level.

The bridge was built in 1924 and represented advanced techniques in concrete bridge construction at that time. It came into being during an era when such structures opened new possibilities for crossing natural obstacles.

The structure stands as a landmark in the town and shows how residents use this area as a vital connection point in their daily lives. It links two neighborhoods together and shapes the appearance of the historic center with its substantial presence.

The viaduct is accessible to pedestrians and vehicles as a normal traffic route through the town. The easiest approach is from the town center, and the structure can be viewed comfortably from the riverbank below.

The central arch spans 60 meters without joints or articulation, making it a remarkable feat of early twentieth-century concrete engineering. This single-piece arch construction has rarely survived intact and shows the boldness of the engineers of that era.
