Alavus Church, Protected church building in Alavus, Finland
The church features a plastered tile structure with a hip roof design and contains three historic chandeliers from a previous church building.
Completed in 1914 by architect Kauno Kallio, this church represents the fourth religious structure built on this site since the first pulpit in 1674.
The altar painting by Oskari Paatela depicts Jesus Christ being taken down from the cross, while the interior preserves traditional Finnish church elements.
The church accommodates 800 people and includes modern facilities such as a nursery room, bridal suite, and broadcasting equipment installed during 1992 renovations.
Three bells from 1746 remain operational in the adjacent bell tower, which was designed by Juho Kohlström and completed in 1826.
