Tesoma

Tesoma is a western residential district of Tampere made up of eight neighborhoods: Epilänharju, Tohloppi, Haukiluoma, Lamminpää, Myllypuro, Ikuri, Ristimäki, and Tesomajärvi. The area combines residential streets with central facilities including a welfare center and integrated shopping center.

The area transformed from rural countryside into an urban residential neighborhood, experiencing major population growth and infrastructure development in recent decades. This expansion paralleled Tampere's growth as an industrial center and brought modern housing and services to the western outskirts.

The Tesoma Welfare Centre serves as a gathering place where the library, youth spaces, and community cafe bring residents together in daily interaction. These shared facilities reflect how the neighborhood values accessible public spaces for local connection.

The district is located about 7 kilometers from central Tampere and is accessible by multiple bus lines including routes 8, 17, 21, and various Pali services. These connections make it easy to navigate between the neighborhood and the city center.

The Westeri shopping center is integrated under one roof with the welfare center, creating an unusual combined space for retail, healthcare, and community services. This spatial arrangement is not common in Finnish residential areas and makes the location functionally distinctive.
