Rajaportti Sauna

Rajaportti Sauna is a traditional public bath with separate sections for men and women. The stone stove uses meter-long logs to generate and maintain consistent heat throughout the facility.

Founded in 1906, this is the oldest operating public bath still in use throughout Finland. The building has retained its original design and structure across the decades.

The sauna embodies Finnish bathing traditions where visitors move between hot steam and cooling breaks. This pattern shapes how locals experience wellness and community throughout their lives.

The facility has dressing rooms accommodating 15 to 20 people and a sauna chamber for about 12 individuals. Plan to visit during quieter times if you prefer more space and a less crowded experience.

The heating system relies on stones weighing over one ton, which release heat gradually and steadily. This design allows evening bathing sessions to continue for hours without frequent refueling.
