Särkänniemi

Särkänniemi is a recreation complex on the shore of Lake Näsijärvi in Tampere that combines rides with an aquarium, a planetarium, and an observation tower. The grounds spread across several zones with attractions for different age groups, blending entertainment with natural and scientific exhibits.

The peninsula served as an industrial site with breweries and warehouses until the 1960s, when it was converted into a leisure area. The park opened in 1973 and has since expanded with new attractions and facilities.

The park maintains Finnish traditions through events like Doghill Christmas and seasonal festivals that connect local families with regional customs and entertainment.

Tram line 3 and bus line 2 connect the site with central Tampere. The park divides into several walkable areas with signs to help visitors find their way between different zones.

The Näsinneula Tower reaches a height of 168 meters (551 feet) and houses a rotating restaurant that offers a full view of Tampere and the surrounding lakes as it turns during the meal. The rotation is slow enough to let diners watch the shifting perspective without noticing the movement.
