The park opened in 1969 on former military grounds from the Napoleonic era to host the International Floralies exhibition of Paris.

The park welcomes visitors daily from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with access through the Château de Vincennes metro station on Line 1.
The garden contains the Conservatory of Pseudomorphs, which presents a collection of ornamental plants arranged according to contemporary design principles.
