Château de l'Argentaye, Neoclassical castle in Saint-Lormel, France.

Château de l'Argentaye is a neoclassical castle featuring symmetrical design, rectangular windows, and white stone facades. The structure was designed by architect Hamon de Saint-Servan and exemplifies the ordered proportions typical of its architectural style.

An earlier medieval fortress occupied the site and appears in eleventh-century documents from Saint-Aubin Abbey. The current building was constructed between 1835 and 1840 as a complete replacement of that older structure.

The castle features a chapel dedicated to Saint René and a traditional dovecote, representing architectural elements common in French noble residences.

The castle remains in private ownership and is not open to visitors. It received protected monument status in 1993 and continues to be maintained by family descendants.

The estate served as the center of the War of Plancoët in medieval times, a succession dispute between two brothers from different marriages. This conflict reveals how intensely nobility fought over inherited properties.
