Workers discovered the cave entrance in 1886 during railway construction in the area. The site was developed for public visits and opened to tourists by 1933 after initial explorations were completed.
The name reflects two cave systems that were eventually linked together through exploration. Today visitors walk through spaces shaped by mineral deposits that mark different chambers and passages.
Visitors follow guided tours through the middle level, where pathways are developed and suitable for walking. Access is available by the D612 road or via a converted railway path.
A chamber called Salle des Bijoux was discovered in 1929 and displays exceptional mineral formations in their natural state. These formations have been protected since and remain a special highlight of the visit.
