Fontaine des Trois Grâces, Bronze fountain in Place de la Bourse, Bordeaux, France

The Fontaine des Trois Grâces is a bronze fountain in Place de la Bourse featuring three female statues positioned on a marble base surrounded by decorative dolphins. The structure creates a layered composition with water flowing around the ensemble, forming a centerpiece that draws attention from across the square.

The fountain was installed in 1869 to replace an equestrian statue of King Louis XV that had occupied the square since 1743. The plaza underwent significant changes following the French Revolution, with various monuments marking its space before this fountain became its defining feature.

The three female figures embody classical ideals that visitors can see expressed through their graceful poses and positioning in the plaza's center. Today, these sculptures draw people who gather around them to appreciate the artistry and use the fountain as a natural meeting point in the square.

The fountain occupies the center of the square between Fernand Philippart and Saint Rémi streets, serving as a natural landmark for orientation. Arrive early in the day to capture good photographs and observe the surroundings without crowds, as the location draws visitors throughout the day.

The faces of the three statues were reportedly based on prominent European female rulers of the 19th century, giving the fountain a personal historical connection. This link to actual historical figures made the sculptures particularly meaningful to people of that era and remains an intriguing detail for observant visitors today.
