Château d'Hannaches, Renaissance château in Hannaches, France.
Château d'Hannaches is a Renaissance castle built from brick with four corner towers, each topped with a pointed roof. The exterior features patterns made from black glazed bricks set into regular brick walls that rest on stone foundations.
Georges Paléologue de Bissipat started rebuilding this castle in 1480 after an older fortress was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War. The family who took charge held the property for more than a century before it changed ownership in 1621.
The chapel beside the castle served the families living here as a place of worship throughout the centuries. The tombs inside reflect generations who made this place their home for over 140 years.
The castle is available for rent for private and professional events, so contact ahead to arrange a visit or discuss your requirements. The official website provides information about reservations and what you can arrange at the site.
The black glazed bricks used for decoration were created through a special firing process and stand out sharply against the regular red bricks. This technique required careful craftsmanship in the 1400s to produce the visual patterns seen on the outer walls.
